COMMUNITY INCLUSION
At Atlantis Special Economic Zone, we believe that social inclusion is integral to sustainable innovation. We are committed to creating opportunities for all, fostering an inclusive culture that values every voice, and ensuring our advancements benefit everyone, particularly underserved and marginalized groups. Together, we can build a greener, more equitable future.
The Integrated Ecosystem (IES) Unit at the ASEZCo includes Skills Development, Enterprise Development, and Community Integration. The development and implementation of IES programmes are for the benefit of the local community. The Integrated Ecosystem Management (IES) team was established in support of local community integration. The team practically applies principles of system thinking to identify and address socio-economic challenges. We strive not only to understand complex community systems, but to support expansion of community assets and adaptive systems
The IES Unit has expanded its network of partners in the last year and this commitment will continue with the TVET colleges, DEDAT, the City of Cape Town and other strategic partners. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives, the Integrated Ecosystem Unit drives forward advancements across various sectors, propelling economic vitality while championing sustainability and social responsibility.
The ASEZCo recognizes that social development is a key component in the support initiatives offered to the Atlantis Community to achieve socio-economic growth. This requires dedicated support and interventions at grassroots level.
Skills development
The skills development workstream is a critical component of the overall SEZ strategy. The main objective of the skills development workstream for the Atlantis SEZ is to equip the residents of Atlantis and surrounding areas with skills that will improve their chances of gaining employment and/or becoming self-employed, both within the Atlantis SEZ and beyond. Landing successful Greentech manufacturing investors creates employment opportunities for semi-skilled and skilled workers such as artisans, operators, assemblers and administrators.
